Conversations on Ice: Drop-in Consultation & Community Skate
In the middle of a sweltering heat wave, people were eager to hit the ice and share their ideas about their experiences with arena use at the Drop-in Consultation & Community Skate at Moss Park Arena on July 14.
It was a great mix of skaters who came with a variety of ideas, or in some cases had never visited the facility before. There were long-time local arena users and some who came a long way to skate for their very first time.
Leisure and figure skaters of all ages talked about the needs for more ice time, and families with children in the House League described how it’s a friendly and welcoming environment for kids of different abilities and backgrounds.
Some of the many ideas we heard on and off the ice included rental lockers to store equipment, change room options for families and teams, more recreational skate times, improved parking and a drop-off area, a modern lighting and sound system and an updated website listing all available programs.
Across the board, there was a recognition of how friendly and accommodating the More Moss Park Arena staff are to the community.
Thanks to everyone who came out, laced up and shared their experiences and ideas for the future of Moss Park Arena!
