Focus Group with Woodgreen Community Services Residents & 490 Sherbourne St. Residents
The More Moss Park team had a delicious homemade lunch with about 15 residents who had some insightful ideas into what an ideal community center looks like.
They were especially passionate about creating a space for different communities to come together, and about the need for community ownership and involvement in the future of Moss Park. They would love to be able to have a place where they can teach and learn from one another.
“I take my daughter to Moss Park to play sometimes. I’ll go down and feed the birds. Sometimes in the winter I’m the only one there, I’ll feed hundreds of them. Sometimes it can be hard to get around the Park. We need it to be built for everybody” - Alex.
“It needs to be more connected to the neighbourhood. We should be able to come together and support each other, to build each other up. We need to share responsibility for this park, it needs to be somewhere where we unite so we can advocate for ourselves and our neighbours” - Mary Elena (left).
“We should be able to have space to teach each other there and share our skills. There should be space for creativity, arts, culture, sculpture, performance, dance. We can learn from each other, garden together, help each other. Oh! And fruit trees!” - Paula (right).
