Conversations with Youth at Covenant House

We stopped by Covenant House’s drop-in on June 13 to hear from youth about what they want to see in their Moss Park. We had an interesting conversation about the specific concerns of young people in the neighbourhood, and talked quite a bit about how making connections between different communities can help make everyone feel welcome.

They were particularly interested in after-school programs, mental health services, and the need for community involvement in creating programming that responds to local needs. “I really want to see a quiet space where youth can just go and relax, do some studying, maybe have a nap. Somewhere we can just decompress and de-stress” said Sara (right).

It’s important that decisions about community resources are made by community members. We had a great time and look forward to coming back again!
